Hey everyone! Last night, the block party and concert at Capitol Park was a success! Many of you and other people from our community came out to support us and the JJ Weeks Band. We really appreciate your support of Xalt and the mission that we have been carrying this week. It was a great time of fellowship and worship with our church and community. There was a sense of unity among the crowd of people having one spirit and one purpose in Christ. Two kids from the Backyard Bible Club even joined us for the night. This was so special because you could see the relationships that had been made between our youth and the kids that came. The JJ Weeks Band did an excellent job leading us and lifting us up!
Today has been another great day of ministry for Xalt. All our work crews left early this morning ready to endure the hot temperatures with a positive attitude and lots of water! The debris team continued to clean up yards by removing branches, tree logs, and brush. They worked on Holt Peterson Road and the Wedgewood neighborhood. It was amazing to see the huge trees that they were able to cut and clear away! The Backyard Bible Club team had a fun day! They presented the Gospel to the kids, made salvation bracelets, had a marshmellow cream, graham cracker, and pretzel snack, drew a picture of what they thought it was like on the day of Jesus' crucifixion, played a game of baseball, and danced to some Jesus music. The kids seemed to be really joyful today. A good many of them were very eager to get their parents to bring them to Calvary since they had so much fun at the Backyard Bible Club. Overall, 41 kids came to the Backyard Bible Club over the past three days. Praise the Lord! The paint crew put the finishing touches on Mr. Allen's house today! This was a great accomplishment! We are so proud of them for sticking to the tedious work they did all week without complaining. The roofing crew made significant progress despite the scorching heat. They have been working so hard, and their heart and perseverance for serving has been incredible to witness! Chickfila provided boxed lunches for all of our crews today. Thanks Teresa Crump for delivering them to us all!
One of our Xalt traditions is Senior lunch. The Senior class always gets to go out to a nice lunch during the tour at some point. Today, they went to the original Dreamland. They had a great time bonding and spending time together as a class. Last night, the Seniors had a chance to lead a time of sharing and prayer for the younger classes. This was a special and emotional time for them. It is obvious that our Senior class has made a huge impact in our ministry. They have been great examples for the youth that are coming after them. We love our Seniors and will miss them so much! We wish them the best of luck as they begin a new chapter in their lives!
We are all exhausted from the past three days and are coming to the end of our own strength. As we prepare for our concert tonight at Rosedale Baptist, please pray for us to have endurance! We are looking to the Lord for our strength and finding His power in our weakness! We are expecting great things to happen tonight in an area that was greatly affected by the tornado. As always, you are all invited to come join us as we reach out and perform for this community. Hope to see you there!
